Texas Hold ‘Em Style Baseball Card Flipping Tournament

The Mickey Vernon Sports History Museum at One Beaver Valley Road in Chadds Ford, PA 19317, is hosting a high stakes baseball card flipping tournament to benefit the United States Military All Star Baseball Team.

This Texas Hold ‘Em style high stakes tournament will be held on Saturday, March 24 starting at 1 PM.  Practice sessions will be held at the museum every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 11 am to 1 pm from February 1 through March 23.  The cards for the tournament will be provided by local firms Choice Marketing of Aston and T.C. Ott Sports of Booths Corner Farmers Market.

The Military All Stars team will be in Delaware County on D-Day–June 6th–to play a re-match with the All Stars of the Delco Baseball League, the oldest incorporated baseball league in the United States.  This is the fifth consecutive year that the Military All Stars will play a team from our local area.  Last year’s game—played at Glen Mills Schools–honored Everett Swanson, a US Navy Veteran and survivor of the December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor.

This year’s Living Legend game will again be played at the Everett Swanson Field at Glen Mills Schools and will once again honor a local veteran with its impressive Passing of The Flag ceremony prior to the start of the contest.   The Military All Stars tour the country to promote “the awareness of all Americans in support of the honorable sacrifices made by the men and women in our Armed Forces”.

If you have any information regarding any Delaware County resident that is a survivor of the 1944 D-Day invasion, or if you would like more information on how you can participate in or support this high-stakes card flipping contest or the All-Star baseball game and have a heck of a good time while doing it, contact Jim Vankoski at 610-909-4919 or vankoski21@comcast.net.
