Bartholomew Joseph (Bert) Griffith B Mar. 3, 1896 D May 5, 1973
Playing in 106 games his rookie season, Griffith would hit .308 with 22 doubles, 8 triples and 2 home runs among his 100 hits. With the Robins in 1923 Griffith would hit .294 in 79 games.
Traded to the Washington Senators for Bonnie Hollignsworth after the 1923 season, Griffith would play in just 6 games for Washington going 1 for 8 at the plate and would be traded to Kansas City of the American Association in July of 1924, never to return to the major leagues.
Griffith is the grandfather of Matt Williams who played in the major leagues from 1987 through 2003 with the San Francisco Giants, Cleveland Indians and Arizona Diamondbacks.
John Forrest Thompson B Mar. 3, 1918 D Feb. 26, 1979
Senators Short Timer Forrest Thompson would come to Washington as a 30 year old rookie after being drafted from Atlanta of the Southern Association. Debuting in April of 1948, Thompson would pitch in 46 games his first season, compiling a 6-10 record with a 3.84 ERA.
1949 would see Thompson in 9 games, posting a 1-3 record in 9 games, his last major league appearance coming in early June.
