2005 – Washington Nationals (58-52) are outscored 3-2 by the San Diego Padres (55-55). The Nats’ dropped to 5 1/2 games behind Atlanta in the NL East race. The Nats’ are only one game behind Houston Astros in the wild-card standings.

*Washington Nationals sent Steve Randolph to San Francisco Giants for future considerations.

2009Ryan Zimmerman led the Washington Nationals (37-72) over the Florida Marlins (55-53) 12-8.  Zimmerman continued his hot hitting with two singles, a triple, a homer and three RBIs.  It was Ronnie Belliard’s  single in the eighth inning that capped off Washington’s rally and put the Nats’ in the lead. Washington overcame a six-run deficit to win the game for only the second time since the team moved to D.C. in 2005.

*Chicago White Sox sold Norris Hopper to Washington Nationals.

*Chicago White Sox sold Daryle Ward to Washington Nationals.

*New York Mets traded Greg Veloz to Washington Nationals in exchange for Anderson Hernandez.

2010Adam Dunn hit a pair of three-run homers off of Los Angeles Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw. Dunn’s 6 RBIs tied his career high for RBIs. and leading the Nationals (49-61) to a 6-3 victory.

Note: Drew Storen pitched a hitless ninth for his first major league save.

2011 – The Colorado Rockies (53-61) matched a season-high for runs in a 15-7 win over the Washington Nationals (54-59).

Note: Ryan Zimmerman extended his hitting streak to 15 games with a first-inning single. The streak is the most by a Nationals player since Zimmerman’s 16-game run July 27-Aug. 13, 2009.

2012 – Two 11th inning errors by the Houston Astros (36-74) helped the Washington Nationals (66-43) win their third straight, 5-4.

In the top of 11th inning Roger Bernadina scored when Astros catcher Brett Wallace threw the ball past first base and down the right field line. Then Right fielder Brian Bogusevic‘s throw home was too high. The run gave the Nationals the 5-4 lead.

*Washington Nationals claimed Cesar Izturis from Milwaukee Brewers on waivers.
