Span extends hit streak to 28 games

Last night at Nationals Park, Denard Span’s fifth-inning single extended his hitting streak to 28 games, breaking a tie with Colorado’s Michael Cuddyer for the longest in the major leagues this season… By extending his hit streak to 28 games Span became only the 3rd player in Washington D.C. baseball history to have a hit streak of 28 games or more.

Span is getting closer to Washington Senators’ great Heinie Manush who in 1933 hit in 33 consecutive games.  Below is the list of Washington ball players that had a hitting streak of 20 or more games.
