Natsfest 2014

The 2014 edition of the Natsfest appeared to be an overwhelming success. The new home at National Harbor http://web.mail.comcast.net/service/home/~/?auth=co&loc=en_US&id=360581&part=2appeared to be a good choice, far better than having it at the ballpark where the fans would experience the deep freeze that has been visiting the area.

The crowds are large and the youth events are well attended. The Nationals have a variety of activities for kids, including base running and batting. The baseball fiddle at the Nat Mobile, especially catching our eye. For those so inclined there are several areas where you could sit and rest.

Food and drink were available although major league prices were the norm. A hot dog was $7 and a beer was $8/$9. Perhaps the best value http://web.mail.comcast.net/service/home/~/?auth=co&loc=en_US&id=360581&part=3was the $2 hot chocolate.

This was our first visit to National Harbor. It was a melancholy visit for Kevin. He grew up a couple of Bryce Harper home runs from the development and has fond memories of playing in the woods back in the day.

The crowd seemed in a festive spirit, although one fan complained to us that he was only allowed to take one picture of Stephen Strasburg. Such is life. Despite the cold and the high priced hot dogs it was great to spend time with fellow Nats fans. Spring training is just around the corner.
