William Frnacis Denehy B Mar. 31, 1946 Still Living

Pitcher Bill Denehy first signed with the New York Mets before the start of the 1965 season. He’d make his major league debut with the Mets in April of 1967.

Pitching in 15 games, Denehy would compile a 1-7 record with a 4.70 ERA.

would pitch in just 3 games for the Senators in 1968. Denehy would surrender 4 hits, 4 walks and 3 runs (2 earned) in 2 innings of work, finishing his very short season with a 9.00 ERA.

Denehy would disappear from the major league scene unitl 1971-in the interim he would be traded by the Senators to the Cleveland Indians for Lee Maye in late June of 1969. He’d be drafted by the New York Mets after the 1969 season ended and would be traded to the Detroit Tigers prior to the start of the 1971 campaign.

Denehy would return to the majors in 1971, appearing in 31 games with the Tigers, posting an 0-3 record with a 4.22 ERA. After the 1971 season, Denehy would be traded 1 last time, this move sending him to the St. Louis Cardinals. However, Denehy would not return to the majors, his last big league appearance having come in mid-September of 1971.
