Washington Nationals 21 year-old prospect Stephen Strasburg can’t control the rainy weather on the day of his professional debut.

At  Metro Bank Park, a record 7,895 crowd withstand multiple rain and lightning delays. For a brief time the power actually went out at the stadium. Strasburg will only throw 2.1 innings because of the circumstances.

The rain delays did not discourage the fans as they watched Strasburg fastballs approached 100 mph throughout 2.1 innings.

The young fireballer threw 32 pitches, his fastball was peaking at 98 mph on the radar gun during the 2.1 innings. Strasburg struck out three and allowed an unearned run on two second-inning hits.

Strasburg will go 3-1 with a 1.64 ERA during his five-start stint with the Senators.
