Daniel John Dobbek B Dec. 6, 1934 Still Living

Outfielder Dan Dobbek would debut with the original Senators in early September of 1959. Playing in 16 games, he’d hit .250.

1960 would be Dobbek’s most active year in the majors when he’d play in 110 games during the original Senators last season in Washington, hitting .218.

Moving with the franchise to Minnesota, Dobbek’s playing time would decrease correspondingly with his batting average as he’d hit just .168 in 72 games in his last year in the major leagues.

Harry Sterling Wolverton B Dec. 6, 1873 D Feb. 4, 1937

Harry Wolverton would start his major league journey before the turn of the last century with the 1898 Chicago Orphans. Debuting in late September of 1898, Wolverton would play in 13 games as a 3rd baseman during his first season, and return for 99 games in 1899.

After appearing in 3 games in the 1900 season, Wolverton would be purchased by the Philadelphia Phillies where he’d spend spend the remainder of 1900 and 1901.

Jumping to the Washington Senators for the start of the 1902 season, Wolverton would play in 59 games for the Senators, hitting .249 before he’d decide that it was sunnier in Philadelphia and he’d jump back to the Phillies to finish the 1902 season.

Wolverton would remain in Philadelphia through 1904 before being traded to the Boston Beaneaters for the 1905 season where he’d play in 122 games.

Out of the major leagues for 6 years, Wolverton would return in 1912 to play in 34 games for the New York Highlanders, his last major league appearance coming exactly 14 years to the day after he debuted in 1898.
