Single Season Senator Tom Brown would play in 61 games for the 1963 Senators at 1st base, hitting .147 with 4 doubles, 1 home run and 4 RBI’s.

He’d have much more success after baseball as a professional football player with the Green Bay Packers, where he played from 1964-1968, winning 2 Super Bowl rings and finishing his football career with the 1969 Washington Redskins.

Clyde Franklin Kluttz B Dec. 12, 1917 D May 12, 1979

Originally signed by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1938, catcher Clyde Kluttz would be drafted by the Boston Braves after the 1941 season, making his major league debut with the Braves in April of 1942. Kluttz most successful season as a Brave would be in 1944 when he’d hit .279 in 81 games.

After 24 games with the Braves in 1945, Kluttz would be traded to the New York Giants where he’d finish the 1945 season and start 1946.

After just 5 games with the Giants that year, Kluttz would be on the move again, traded to the Philadelphia Phillies who traded him yet again on the same day, this time to the organization that originally signed him, the St. Louis Cardinals where he’d finish the 1946 season.

Kluttz would be purchased by the Pittsburgh Pirates where he’d play in 1947 and 1948.

Kluttz would be out of the major leagues in 1949 and 1950 but would reappear with the St. Louis Browns in 1951. Waived after only 5 games with the Browns, Kluttz would be picked up by the Washington Senators. He’d hit .309 in 53 games in 1951 but would see his average drop to .229 in 1952, his last season in the major leagues.

Michael Francis Mitchell B Dec. 12, 1879 D Jul. 16, 1961

27 year old Mike Mitchell would get his start in the majors in April of 1907.An outfielder and occasional 1st baseman, Mitchell would remain with the Reds through 1912, his best season at the plate being 1909 when he’d hit .310 in 145 games.

Traded to the Chicago Cubs for the 1913 season, Mitchell would play in 82 games in Chicago before being waived when he’d be picked up by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Mitchell would play in 54 games for the Pirates in 1913 and another 76 in 1914 before he was waived again, this time being picked up by the Washington Senators.

Mitchell would finish his major league career with Washington in 1914, getting into 55 games, hitting .285.

Raul Guadalupe Rodriguez Sanchez B Dec. 12, 1930 D Jun. 30, 2002

Single Season Senator Raul Sanchez, another member of the Cuban Connection, would debut with the Washington Senators in April of 1952. Pitching in 3 games, Sanchez would post a 1-1 record with a 3.55 ERA.

Sanchez would pitch for the Cincinnati Reds in 1957 and 1960, his last game coming in mid-May of 1960.

One Game Wonder Allie Watt would make his only major league appearance on October 3rd of 1920. Playing second base, Watt would double in his only time at bat, being credited with 1 RBI.
