Ernest Lee (Tex) Jeanes B Dec. 19, 1900 D Apr. 5, 1973

Outfielder Tex Jeanes had a very brief career, playing in 53 games spread out over portions of 5 seasons.

Debuting with the 1921 Cleveland Indians, Jeanes would play in 5 games, going 2 for 3 at bat, with 1 double and 4 RBI. He’d appear in 1 solitary game with the Indians in 1922.

Out of the majors until 1925, Jeanes would return, this time in the uniform of the Washington Senators. Playing in 15 games for Washington in 1925, he’d hit .263. Jeanes would be back in a Washington uniform in 1926, playing in 21 games, his most active season.

1927 would find Jeanes in the uniform of the New York Giants, where he’d play in 11 games, his last major league appearance coming in late June of 1927.

Thomas Edward O’Brien B Dec. 19, 1918 D May 13, 1950

Another outfielder, Tommy O’Brien actually had a pretty decent start with the Pittsburgh Pirates, but after 3 years out of the majors, his BA fizzled.

Starting with the Pirates in April of 1943, O’Brien would play in 89 games, hitting .310. He’d drop to .250 in 1944, playing in 85 games, but would rebound in 1945, hitting .335 in 58 games.

O’Brien would disappear from the majors until 1949 when he’d return with the Boston Red Sox, hitting .224 in 49 games.

After 9 games with the Red Sox in 1950, O’Brien, along with Merl Combs, would be traded to the Washington Senators for Clyde Vollmer. 3 games with the Senators in May of 1950 would mark the end of O’Brien’s career.

Frederick Harvey Thomas B Dec. 19, 1892 D Jan. 15, 1986

3rd baseman and occasional shortstop Fred Thomas would debut as a 24 year old rookie with the Boston Red Sox in April of 1918. Playing in 44 games, Thomas would hit .257. He’d also play in 6 games of the 1918 World Series as the Red Sox won their last World’s Championship in the 20th Century.

Purchased by the Philadelphia Athletics before the start of the 1919 season, Thomas would play in 124 games for the A’s.

He’d start the 1920 season in Philadelphia but would be traded in July to the Washington Senators for Red Shannon.

Thomas would play in only 3 games for the Senators, his last major league appearance coming in August of 1920.
