This evening the Washington Nationals will be hosting their second of three Pups in the Park for the 2011 season at Nationals Park. For those of you who love baseball and dogs the Pups in the Park is a true delight. The Dog Days of Summer has whole new meaning at Nats Park as the Nationals expect 1,500 or more pups and their owners for this evening’s game.
The Nationals’ held their first two Pups in the Park in 2009. A total of 300 pups and owners attended both games that season. This season the Nats’ expect at least 1,500 or more for each of the three games. When I asked Chris Gargani, who is the Nationals’ Vice President and Managing Director, Sales and Client Services, if there are any tickets remaining for the last two “Pups in the Park” games he told me, while there are tickets still available, these events usually sell out so fans are encouraged to buy tickets early.
For this dog owner the game between the Colorado Rockies and the Nationals is special because of all the fun we will have when we attend the game with our dog. I have to say these are my favorite games I attend each year. Our one year old malti-poo named Cody loves being at these games because he receives tons of free treats and gets a lot of attention. He also loves walking around the section to meet some of the other dogs and their owners.
If you are a dog lover and you are attending this evening’s game I recommend you stop by sections 140 to 143 and check out all of the pups. Besides seeing all of the pups you will also notice most of the dog owners will have big smiles on their faces.
