Today at noon the Georgetown Hoyas are scheduled to face the Washington Nationals in an exhibition game in Viera, FL. The exhibition game between GU and the Nats will be the first time the two teams have played since 2008. In the last meeting between the two ball-clubs the young Hoyas’ were overwhelmed by the Nats as the Hoyas were shutout 15-0.
The Hoyas’ come into today’s game with 6-2 record and look to make a better showing than the team had in 2008. No matter what the final score is today I am sure the Hoya players will gain some valuable experience by playing against Nationals.
For you D.C. baseball history fans the Georgetown Hoyas baseball club first played exhibition games against a professional team from Washington in 1901. The two teams played two games on April 22nd and 23rd. I don’t know this for a fact but I believe the two ball-clubs met annually in the early part of the 20th century.
