2005 – John Patterson won his third straight start. Patterson went eight innings and gave up only one earned run as the Washington Nationals (62-55) completed a three-game sweep of the Colorado Rockies (44-74) with a 9-2 victory. Patterson (7-3) allowed nine hits, struck out five, walked two and lowered his ERA to 2.44. He has only allowed four earned runs over his last three starts.
Nick Johnson hit a three-run homer and Jose Guillen added a solo shot for the Nationals. The series sweep was Washington’s seventh this season.
2009 – The Washington Nationals (41-75) were led by Rafael Belliard and Wil Nieves who both hit solo home runs. The Nats’ starter Garrett Mock pitched seven solid innings and Washington snapped a three-game losing streak with a 2-0 victory over the Cincinnati Reds (50-65). Mock (2-4), allowed six hits with four walks and six strikeouts.
