2005 – Preston Wilson homered twice, Livan Hernandez pitched eight innings and the Washington Nationals (63-55) beat the Philadelphia Phillies (63-56) 6-3. The victory was the Nationals fourth in a row. Nick Johnson and Brian Schneider also homered for the Nationals.
2006 – Pedro Astacio pitched a two-hit shutout gem and led the Washington Nationals (52-67) to a 5-0 victory over the Atlanta Braves (55-63). It was Washington’s first complete game of the season. Astacio (3-2) didn’t walk a batter and struck out five. Astacio needed only 89 pitches, throwing 66 strikes, and faced two batters over the limit.
2009 – Adam Dunn’s first homer against his former team was just a bonus for the Washington Nationals (42-75). Dunn led off the second inning with his 31st homer and Washington pounded the Cincinnati Reds (50-66) 10-6. Alberto Gonzalez and Elijah Dukes each had two hits and three RBIs for the Nationals, who led 10-1 after four innings. Dunn also walked twice and scored two runs.
2012 – Strasburg (14-5) capped Washington’s (73-45) longest road trip of the season by winning his third straight start in a 6-4 victory over the San Francisco Giants (64-54) on Wednesday. He outpitched Tim Lincecum in the process. Strasburg struck out seven and walked four in six innings, allowing two runs and four hits.
