August 11

2005 – Transactions / Washington Nationals released Hector Ortiz and signed Keith Osik as a free agent.
2006Billy Traber (2-1) was at his best when he out-dueled Tom Glavine (12-5), pitching into the eighth inning and allowing only four hits to lead the Washington Nationals (51-64) past New York (69-45) 2-1, ending the Mets’ five-game winning streak.

2012 – The Washington Nationals stretched their season-best winning streak to eight games with a 6-5 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Jesus Flores singled in the final the deciding run in Washington’s five-run fifth inning. Jayson Werth and Michael Morse each had an RBI double and Ryan Zimmerman drove in two with a single during the rally. The Nats were helped during the onslaught by Diamondbacks two errors and a wild pitch by Diamondbacks starter Wade Miley (12-8). The Nationals’ Edwin Jackson (7-7) got the win despite giving up five runs and eight hits in 5 2-3 innings.

Tyler Clippard threw a perfect ninth for his 24th save in 28 tries.The Nationals improved their record to a major league-best 71-43 record, stayed 4 1-2 games ahead of Atlanta in the NL East.
