2006 – Jose Vidro ended the game by lining a two-run single in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Washington Nationals 61-78) a 7-6 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals(74-64).
2008 – Ryan Langerhans hit a 10th-inning homer and helped the Washington (55-88) recover from blowing a two-run lead in the ninth to beat the Atlanta Braves (62-81) 8-5.
The Nationals matched their season high for homers with five, including two by Elijah Dukes. Langerhans’ go-ahead homer in the 10th off Mike Gonzalez (0-2) was his second this season.
2009 – For the fifth time in his career Ryan Zimmerman ended a game with a home run. The Washington Nationals (47-90) snapped an eight-game skid when Zimmerman’s a two-run homer gave the Nationals a 5-4 win over the Florida Marlins (72-65).
2010 – Danny Espinosa drove in six runs, hitting a grand slam, a solo homer and getting two other hits, and helping the Washington Nationals (60-78) rout the New York Mets (67-71) 13-3 for their third straight victory.
2012 – The Nats skipper Davey Johnson thought the Chicago Cubs (51-86) were a little upset because Jayson Werth swung at a 3-0 pitch in the fifth inning. “If they get mad at my guys in the fifth inning swinging 3-0 or running, they better get used to it,” Johnson said.
A verbal exchange between Cubs bench coach Jamie Quirk and Nationals third-base coach Bo Porter took place in the fifth. Quirk shouted from the dugout toward third base and Porter walked over to the railing of the dugout and pointed his finger at Quirk while saying some choice words to the Cubs’ coach.
Adam LaRoche hit a two-run homer to cap off Washington (85-52) victory over the Cubs 9-2. The Nats’ victory gave the team a four game sweep of the Cubs in Chicago.
