The Eddie Yost Story

Eddie Yost 3rd Baseman playing Mostly for The Washington Senators with two years at Detroit 1958 – 1960 and LA Angels 1961 – 62. He played ball at NYU before being signed free agent with The Washington Senators in 1944. He played in his first MLB at age 17.He spent 1945 in the US Navy and returned in 1946. By 1950 he was posting.295 batting average. In 1951 he led the AL with 36 doubles and 65 RBI . Yost played in 829 consecutive games. From 1949 and 1955. He would have probably had more home runs had his home games not been played at Griffith Stadium. He had a hard time there hitting only 3 while hitting 52 on the road. In 1958 he would end his Senators career as a player after 14 years.He would be traded to the Detroit Tigers to make room for a young rookie Harmon Killebrew. He hit 21 homers with the Tigers that year. He had 2 great years there with league leading play. Yost was drafted in the expansion to inaugural Los Angeles Angels in AL in 1961.
