Sutcliffe had a long baseball career, playing eight years in the majors from 1884 to 1892. He was picked up by Washington in 1891, playing on the American Association team. He batted .353 in 53 games. Well liked, good natured and a fairly good hitter. He passed away in 1893 at the age of 30 …
